Deserter arrested for homicide

An army deserter is reported to have been arrested for trying to commit homicide recently in Navala, in the police district of Akmimana.

In his attack, he stabbed his parents and his sister, Anusha Mathurangani (19), who died as result at Harapitiya hospital in Galle.

His father and mother have been admitted to Harapitiya and Colombo's base hospitals respectively. The deserter is in detention until September 23. on the orders of Judge Ruvan Fernando .
