Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Commanding Officer in Jaffna informed the media in Jaffna Wednesday that the Central Bus Terminal located in the heart of Jaffna town and close to Jaffna Teaching Hospital will be shifted to an area near Pannai Bridge with effect from Thursday. The
SLA also informed the media that Stanley Road in Jaffna town will be closed in the future.
The Jaffna Municpal Council, the authority vested with the power over the placement of Bus Terminals, said they had not received any information about this change. Hospital Road and Power House Road, both near the Central Bus stand in Jaffna town, had been closed for traffic by the SLA since 1995. The SLA in Jaffna, strengthening its security arrangements in Jaffna, are planning to make Jaffna town vehicle free where
all persons with errands in the town have to go on foot, Jaffna residents said. Gnanam Hotel and Subash Hotel, both occupied by SLA high
ranking officials, are located close to Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
