The employees of the Jaffna district Central Transport Board (CTB) will begin boycott of transport services in the Peninsula from Friday to condemn Sri Lankan Army (SLA) relocating the Central Bus Terminal from the heart of Jaffna town to an empty area near Pannai Bridge, CTB sources said Thursday.
The Bus Terminal in Jaffna town had shelters for the passengers, shelters for the employees, administrative head office and the facilities of fueling the buses. After the sudden relocation, patients traveling to Jaffna Teaching hospital, and government servants, traders and public who had come to the town for various purposes, had to undergo difficulties in getting to the town area, sources said. Sri Lanka Army has also restricted all the vehicular traffic to and from Jaffna town through selected one-way roads from Thursday further worsening mobility of the public within the town area, civil sources said.
