Two Muslim youths shot dead in Vavuniya

Unidentified armed men shot dead two Muslim youths Monday night around 7:45 p.m at Annar Nagar area in Vavuniya, the police said. The youths, from Nuwera Eliya, were staying at their relative's house in Vavuniya, the police added.

The victims were identified as Muthalib Rivai, 22 and Mohamed Salim Basil, 33, Vavuniya hospital sources said.

Vavuniya District Magistrate inspected the dead bodies at the hospital and ordered them to be handed over to the relatives of the victims after post mortem.

The motive of the killings is not known.
