Police Sergeant commits suicide in Kalmunai

A Police Sergeant attached to Kalmunai in Amparai district shot himself dead Monday around 1:25 p.m at the Kalmunai police station lodge, using his friend's AK47 rifle, Kalmunai police said.

The dead Police Sergent was identified as M. S. M. Casim, 46, resident of Sainthamaruthu in Kalmunai and a father of one child.

The Officer-in-Charge of Kalmunai police station, S. Wijayathilaka, said that the reason for the suicice is not known and that the police is conducting investigations.

The dead body is kept at the Kalmunai hospital morgue.
