Friendly fire kills two

An SLA patrol near the Sithaandy temple shot dead two soldiers from its camp on Friday September 18 afternoon around 1.50 p.m. said informed sources. The patrol and the soldiers it mistook for Tigers were from the nearby SLA base at Morokkottaanchenai.

When the soldiers of the patrol realised that they had shot two of their own they had run amock in the area until 2.30 p.m., firing in the air and beating up devotees at the Sithaandy temple sources said.

Some persons were severely assaulted they added.
