SLA-PLOTE clash in Jaffna

A PLOTE cadre was killed in a clash with the Sri Lankan Army (SLA) this afternoon in Chavakachcheri said sources in Jaffna. They said that two soldiers were wounded when the army and the PLOTE exchanged fire. The PLOTE office in Chavakachcheri was abandoned following the clash.

An EPDP cadre who was standing nearby was also wounded sources said.

The SLA later took into custody two armed PLOTE cadres who had abandoned the organisation's camp in Chavakachcheri following the clash with the SLA.

PLOTE sources in Colombo said that the clash started over an altercation between some soldiers and their cadres near the organisation's camp in Chavakachcheri.
