Fishmonger shot dead in Valvettithurai

Unidentified armed men waylaid a fishmonger behind Valvettithurai hospital in Vadamaradchi and shot him dead, Thursday around 8:30 a.m. The victim's dead body, recovered by Valvettithurari police, was transferred to the Valvettithurai government hospital, the police said.

The dead man was identified as Kankesamoorthy Shanmugarasa, 35. He left his home at Oorani area in Valvettithurai Thursday morning and was on his way to begin his day's' business, when he was shot.

The motive of the killing is not known, the police said.
