24 Tamils arrested in Hatton, Bogowantalawa[TamilNet, Wednesday, 21 February 2007, 00:18 GMT]Nine Tamil civilians including seven from Vaharai in the Batticaloa district were arrested at Norwood in Hatton Police Division in the central province Monday morning in a cordon and search operation conducted by Sri Lanka government security forces. The arrested are being detained in Hatton police station and being interrogated, civil society source in upcountry said. Police said the persons were taken into custody as they failed to produce necessary documents for their visit to Norwood area. Meanwhile, government troops conducted another search operation in Bogantalawa in central province Monday morning and arrested fifteen upcountry Tamils. In the meantime, Bandarawela Magistrate Monday released 12 Tamil youths arrested at Hoonagala estate in Bandarawela division Sunday on bail, legal sources said. Chronology:
