Family man shot dead in Eravur

Unidentified armed men shot dead a 25-year old father of two at his house at Kaluvankerny in Eravur police division in Batticaloa district Thursday around 10:00 p.m, Eravur police said. The armed men called the victim to come out of his house, and shot him dead at point blank range, Eravur police said.

The victim, Yogarasa Yogeswaran, a fisherman, is from Co-operative Road, Kaluvankerny.

Yogeswaran did not go to sea but had been asleep with his wife and children in his house on Thursday.

Eravur police recovered the body Friday morning and brought the body to Eravur hospital where inquest into the death was held.

The body was then handed over to the relatives.

Eravur police are investigating into the killing.

Eravur is located 14 km from Batticaloa town.
