SLA fires artillery on LTTE-held villages in Mannar

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Wednesday launched indiscriminate artillery fire on Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) held villages in the Mannar district. The attack commenced at 8.30 a.m. and continued till about 12.30 p.m., sources in Mannar said. Several hundred residents from villages Palaikudi, Parapukadanthan and Adamban fled from their houses and sought refuge in Madhu church.

SLA firing began after LTTE attacked a police party Wednesday morning around 6.45 a.m

Details of damages caused to civilian properties and lives in the SLA artillery fire are not known.

Meanwhile, a drone was seen flying over LTTE held villages, Adamban, Parapukadanthan, Aandankulam, Karukkakulam and Aadkadiveli Tuesday night for about two hours, residents said.
