Tamil milk vendor shot dead in Sambaltivu

A Tamil milk vendor was shot dead Wednesday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. by unidentified armed persons in Sambaltivu, a Tamil village about 7 km north of Trincomalee town. The victim has been identified as 52 year - old Tharmu.

The victim is a resident of Sambaltivu. Armed persons came in a motorbike and shot him dead when he was returning home from Trincomalee town in his motorbike after the sale of milk brought from Sambaltivu, residents said.

Sambaltivu is located in the Uppuveli Police division. Police began investigation into the killing.
