Two persons are shot dead in Uyilankulam, while a student who was knifed during a fight in a private school in Colombo succumbs to injuries.
Two killed in UyilankulamSources in Mannar said that two persons were shot dead by the SLA in Uyilankulam on Saturday night. They were trying to smuggle goods to the uncleared areas when they were shot, the sources said. Mannar Judge M. Ilancheliyan has ordered the Police to hand over the bodies to the Mannar hospital, and has asked the substitute Judge to carry out death inquiries.
Student succumbs to injuriesDavid Ponniah who was knifed in a clash on Saturday evening at a leading private school in Colombo succumbed to his injuries today. David Ponniah, a GCE Advanced Level student of St. Thomas College, Mount Lavinia, was attacked by some students of Hindu College in Bambalapitiya who had been invited to take part in the former school's Vaani Vila (a Tamil festival for the goddess of learning) on the 10th of October. Six students were injured during this incident.
