Tigers condemn Colombo for "disinformation campaign" on civilian killings

Liberation Tigers military spokesman Irasiah Ilanthirayan, talking to media from Kilinochchi charged Colombo for carrying out a "planned disinformation campaign," by accusing the Tigers for attacks on civilian targets while encouraging paramilitary elements to carry out such attacks with the "motive of tarnishing the Tiger image."

"We note with concern the rencent attacks on civilians in areas near the Sri Lankan military camps," Mr. Ilanthirayan told media. 6 Sinhalese civilians were slain at Mylambaveli, 8 km north of Batticaloa, Sunday night. Last Thursday, 9 Tamil civilians were killed in Siththandi, 3rd division, in mortar shelling from Sri Lanka Army camp. Colombo had charged the Tigers for the shell attack and for the attack on Sinhalese civilians. Sri Lankan military also charged the Tigers for a bomb blast in a bus at Kon'daivedduvaan in Amparai district Monday. 15 civilians were killed in the blast.
