2 white van abductions, 3 missing, 1 arrested by SLA in Jaffna

Unidentified armed men in a white van abducted two civilians in the early hours of Monday morning while three had gone missing Saturday, one of them not returning after going to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) civil administration office in Colombuthurai, Jaffna, according to complaints made by their family members with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) office in Jaffna. Meanwhile, three civilians also reported missing in Jaffna, HRC officials said.

Jaffna town Saturday around 2:00 a.m from his house. Sinnathamby Shanmugalingam, 35, a family man from Poonari Madam in Kokuvil was reported missing since Saturday morning after going to
his neighbouring village, Nachchimarkovilady. Sinnakandu Jegaseelan, 27, the owner of a cycle repair shop on Main street, Jaffna, was reported missing after going to the SLA civil administrative office at Colombuthurai Saturday around 8:00 a.m, to obtain permission to leave Jaffna. Jeyarasa Jeyatheleepan, 19, a student was reported missing after leaving his house at Colombuthurai on personal errands Saturday around 6:10 p.m. Meanwhile, SLA troopers took away a youth staying at Kambarmalai in Vadamardcy, according to local residents. Details of the incident is not available at the moment.
