The residential representative of the United Nations High Commissions of Refugees (UNHCR) in Sri Lanka, Janet Lim, ceremonially opened the new medical dispensary at Cithamparapuram in Vavuniya Saturday.
The dispensary was put up under the Micro Projects of the UNHCR by Social Economical and Environmental Developers (SEED) of Germany. About 9700 families living in Aasikkulam welfare centre and other surrounding villages will get benefit from this dispensary. About 3000 families living at Aasikulam welfare centre sought refuge in India before 1991 and were repatriated some times ago. However due to the prevailing situation in Vanni they have not been able to move to their home towns. Mr. Janet Lim laid later foundation stone for a school at Thandikulam. He also ceremonially open a co-operative sales centre at Samalankulam.
