The Sri Lankan President told Sri Lankan Army (SLA) officers yesterday that she was very desirous of going to the war front in person to inspect and encourage troops in their fight against the Liberation Tigers, when she paid a surprise visit to the SLA operations centre at the 21 brigade Head Quarters in Anuradhapura said sources.
Anuradhapura is 206 kilometers northeast of Colombo and is the largest logistics and command centre of the SLA's rear in the north. Sources said that the President had discussions with officers individually to find out the nature of the difficulties faced by them and promised to take immediate action to resolve the problems. This is the first visit by the Sri Lankan President to an SLA operations centre since 'Eelam War III' began in 1995 April.
