Jeyasikurui continues, 93 killed -SLA

The army spokesman said at the cabinet press briefing today that: Operation Jayasikurui continues. The SLA lost 46 killed in Battle during the last two weeks. He said that 47 Tigers were also killed.
Brigadier Tennenkoon claimed that the army was moving ahead with the very much enhanced power of the artillery units and the backing of the Sri Lanka Airforce. The army recovered from the Tigers 16 T56 assault rifles, 3 light machine guns, 142 anti personnel mines, 7 anti tank mines, 6 claymore mines and 2 radios. The spokesman said that the SLA carried out limited operations in Kadduvan, Valigamam, Palai, Iyakkachchi, Thenmaradchi and to the south and east of Paranthan and that seven troops were killed and 31 wounded in these operations. He said in the early hours of the morning today there was fighting immediately outside the Forward Defence Lines (FDLs) northeast of the Elephant Pass base at Sangaraththai Vayal. Three troops were wounded in this skirmish the Brigadier said.
