Relatives of a youth, reported abducted April 13 by four unidentified men on motor cycles from Columbuthurai, saw the youth detained inside a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) sentry post on Kandy road in Chundukuli, clad in army fatigue, according to complaints made by the youth's parents Friday with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna office. The SLA's 51-2 brigade headquarters in Jaffna town, however, told the HRC that they had not detained any such person, when approached by the HRC Friday, Jaffna sources said.
Parents of Gopalasamy Kosalan, 20, a fisherman from Swamiyar Veethy in Columbuthurai located within Jaffna Municipal Council limits, made complaints to Jaffna HRC April 13 that their relatives saw unknown men on motor cycles abducting Kosalan. The HRC officials had contacted the SLA immediately but had been told that SLA had no information regarding the abduction. Kosalan, wearing military fatigue, was seen detained in a SLA sentry point in Chundukuli, located next to Kosalan's village, guarded by two SLA troopers, Kosalan's relatives had told his parents, according to their statement to HRC Jaffna.
