Labourer abducted, shot dead in Eravur

Unidentified gunmen abducted a young Tamil family man from his residence in Vipulanthapuram, Mylampaveli in Eravur police division in Batticaloa District Wednesday night around 7:00 p.m., and shot him dead, sources in Batticaloa said.
The victim has been identified as Thevathasan Inthirakmar, 28, father of one child, and a labourer by profession. The deceased was forcibly taken out by the armed gang from his residence while watching television with his family Wednesday night and then shot
dead in a nearby location, Eravur police said. The body of the victim was recovered by Eravur police and taken to Eravur District hospital for autopsy. After inquest by police and subsequent post mortem examination the body was handed over to the relatives. The deceased recently moved from Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE)–controlled Karadiyanaru area on Chenkalady -Badulla road and was livingin the refugee camp located in Vipulanthapuram, Mylampaveli, relatives said.
