SLA shoots dead security guard in Cha'ndilipaay

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers of a night patrol unit shot dead a security guard Sunday night at Cha'ndilippay. The SLA claimed that they shot the man when he failed to stop at their command and tried to flee away and that they recovered a hand grenade from his body.

The Victim was identified as Nagarasa Wijayakumar, 32, a family man from Maa'nipaay employed as a night time security guard at the Divisional Secretariat.

Mallaakam magistrate, Ms. Sarojini Illankovan conducted inquest into the killing and directed the body to be taken to Jaffna Teaching hospital for postmortem examinations.
