Mass job loss for Batticaloa cellular employees

Disconnection of cell phone services in Batticaloa district since 06 March, has resulted in many cellphone related activities being suspended causing loss of employment for the repair technicians as well as those involved in sale of cell phones, SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards and refill cards, sources in the area said.

In addition CDMA (Code­Division Multiple Access) telephone call connections have been disconnected causing great inconvenience to the users.

Meanwhile, the disconnection of cell phone services and CDMA Telephone connections has resulted in increase in the price of cable telephones.

However, all connections provided by Sri Lank Telecom has been stopped in the area until further notice.
