2 SLA soldiers reported killed, major search in Chaavakachcheari

Two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were reported killed in Meesalai Thursday reports from Thenmaraadchy said. The killings, not officially confirmed by the SLA, took place a day before an SLA trooper was killed and another injured in attacks by unidentified armed men in Thenmaraadchy.
During Thursday's killing, the SLA solidiers in pursuit of the armed men, also came under attack. Following these incidents, SLA troopers launched a large cordon and search operation Saturday covering Northern, Western areas of A9 in Chaavakachcheari, Manthuvil, Dutch Road and Meesalai areas, residents in Chaavakachcheari said. The areas were deserted due the search devoid of pedestrian and vehicular traffic the whole of Saturday, sources said. The searches will likely complete Sunday and situation is expected become normal then.
