Kodikaamam police produced two youths arrested by Sri Lanka Army(SLA) in Chaavakachcheari District Courts Tuesday, charged with possession of claymore mines, under Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). The youths, however, maintained that they were innocent and that SLA had planted the mines to incriminate them.
The magistrate, on police request, ordered remand of the youths until June 8, directing the police to produce the claymore mines along with a detailed report, legal sources in Chaavakachcheari said. Kumaru Thayananthan, 18, of Yataalai, Va'rani in Then:maraadchi and Arumugam Kamlatheepan, 19, of Manthuvil in Thenma'raadchi were the
youths produced in the courts. SLA arrested the two youths in a cordon off and search Monday in Va'ra'ni and Manthuvil areas in Then:maraadchi.
