White van squads abduct 2 Tamils in Colombo

Unknown men in a white van, pretending as Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers, took away a trader in Dehiwela, a suburb of Colombo Saturday, according to complaints made by his wife to the Dehiwela police. Meanwhile, in a separate incident, armed men arriving in a white van took away a youth Monday from his house in Mattakuliya, Colombo 15, relatives complained to the Civil Monitoring Committee, a Colombo-based human rights watchdog.

The abducted trader was identified as Nadarajah Swaranathan, 43, of Gowdana street in Dehiwala

The abducted youth was identified as Mahendran Matheeskumar, 25, of Aluthmawathe street in Colombo 15.

The unknown men, arriving in a white van, first led Matheeskumar who stood outside speaking on his hand phone into the house and made inquiries about him. After which they took away Matheeskumar saying that he will be released after interrogation, his mother said.
