APRC to submit proposals in 2 months

The All Party Representatives' Council (APRC) will present the political proposals to solve Sri Lanka's ethnic crisis in two months, said its Chairman Professor Tissa Vitarane, a senior minister in the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) government Thursday to media sources in Colombo. He is the general secretary of the Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP), a constituent of the UPFA government.

Thirteen political parties have submitted their political proposals to the APRC except the Sinhala nationalist Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).

We have to work out a common political package with the consent of them, Mr Vitarane said.

Professor Vitarane further said representatives of political parties attended the meeting of the APRC held in Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on Tuesday after a long interval had decided in principle that the final political solution to the ethnic conflict should be based on report submitted by him earlier to the APRC.

The JVP did not attend the Tuesday's APRC meeting.
