6 killed, threewheelers carrying paramilitary personnel ambushed in Ampaa'rai

Six persons were killed Thursday night when two threewheelers transporting paramilitary Karuna Group personnel from Ampaa'rai to Poththuvil were ambushed by a group of attackers at Inspector Eattam in Poththuvil Police division. The attack in the wake of internal strife within the paramilitary Karuna Group, comes after 8 paramilitary personnel of the breakaway Pillayaan Group, were reported missing in Polonnaruwa at the hands of Karuna paramilitary.

3 bodies were taken by the paramilitary to Koamaari, informed sources said. Police said three bodies were lying at the attack site Friday morning.

3 wounded persons were receiving medical treatment, the sources added.
