Anti-aircraft guns installed in Mannaar police stations

Anti-aircraft guns have been installed in main police stations located in Mannaar, Talaimannaar and Murungkan and major security detachments in the district. Trained operators of anti-aircraft guns have also been posted to these stations and detachments, sources said.

Colombo has instructued the police stations and security detachments to be on red alert against possible air strike by the air-wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
