SLA bars stone breakers in Madduvil

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers have barred destitute families that engage in stone-breaking to earn a daily wage from areas in Charasaalai, Madduvil areas, civil society sources in Thenmaraadchi said. More than 9000 members belonging to nearly 2000 families are affected by the ban in the Jaffna district.

Hundreds of SLA troopers rounded up stone workers in Charasaalai, Choo'raavaththai, Chu'n'naakam, Mayilani, and Araali during Saturday and Sunday and directed them to suspend their work, sources said.
