CID summons UNP parliamentarian for inquiry

Dr.Jayalath Jayawardene, parliamentarian of the main opposition
United National Party (UNP) representing the Gampaha district in
Western province, was summoned by the Criminal Investigation
Department (CID) to its office Monday at about 1:00 p.m. to record
his statement, sources in Colombo said.
The inquiry was related to Dr.Jayawarene's visit to Ki'linochchi and also about his involvement in political propaganda making allegations against the government regarding human rights violations. Dr.Jayawardene was met at the entrance of Terrorism Intelligence
Department(TID) by Tissa Attanayake, General Secretary of
UNP, parliamentarians Ravi Karunanayake, Dayasiri Jeyasekera, John
Amaratunge and Mano Ganeshan, Western Province People's Front (WPPF)
leader, prior to being led inside for the investigations. Speaking to the media, Dr.Jayawardene said "This investigation is being done to intimidate the parliamentarians who raise human rights violations. I will continue to expose the human rights violations of the government."
