Time bomb blast injures a soldier

A Sri Lankan Army soldier was wounded when a time bomb went off at Chenkalady, 10 km north of Batticaloa, around 12.00 this noon. The wounded soldier, Waithyaratne, 23, has been admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.

Meanwhile a member of the Razeek group, Karunainathan Karunaivel, 40, died in a road accident with a Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) vehicle this morning. He was cycling from Munai road towards clock tower when the SLAF vehicle drove on him around 09.40 a.m. He was rushed to the hospital and died around 10.40.

He was in the Sri Lankan Police before he joined the TELO and latter in the Razeek group. Both groups operate as para military outfit with the SLA in the east.

He was known as 'Seelan' in the Razeek group. SLAF driver Nishantha Jeyasena was arrested by the Police.
