Hospital employee abducted in Ninthaavoor

Gunmen, suspected to be Karuna group members, abducted an employee of Ninthaavoor hospital Saturday evening at Kalladi Uppoadai area in Batticaloa district, according to a complaint made at Batticaloa police station.

The abductee was indentified as Thilaiampalam Paramalingam, 45, a father of four children from Chiththaanaikuddi Veethi in Kaaraitheevu.

The gunmen abducted Paramalingam when he had come to Batticaloa to appear in a case at the Batticaloa courts, the police said.

Ninthaavoor hospital is in Ampaa'rai district, and Kaaraitheevu also in the same district, is 46 km south of Batticaloa.
