Court releases Hindu priest, trustee charged under PTA

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Thursday ordered the release of Brammasri Sivaramalinga Kurukal Manohara Kurukal, chief priest of Kayts Muthumaariamman Temple and a trustee, Mr. Nadarajah Sivarajah, on a report of the Attorney General that there was no evidence to implicate both under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Subsequently they were released in open court.

The Sri Lanka Navy and police took both into custody on May 3 at Kayts on a report that explosives were hidden in the Muthumaariamman Temple.

From 3rd May both have been held in remand under the PTA.
