2 killed, one injured in SLA shooting in Jaffna

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers opened indiscriminate firing following a Claymore attack Tuesday around 9:00 a.m on its road patrol unit at Chiththangkea'ni in Jaffna, killing a civilian woman, a youth and seriously injuring another youth, sources in Jaffna said. Two SLA troops were injured in the Claymore attack.
The killed woman was identified as Ms. Saratha Paramsothy, 39 and a classical music teacher. The killed youth was identified as Srikanthan Nisanthan, 22. The injured youth Iruthayakumar is admitted to Jaffna Teaching hospital. Saratha Parmasothy succumbed to her wounds at Jaffna Teaching hospital. Unidentified persons had fixed the Claymore device along the road and activated it causing the blast injuring two SLA troops. SLA launched a cordon and search in the area following the Claymore attack.
