Kfir jet bombing injures civilians

Sri Lankan Air Force (SLAF) jet planes launched air attacks in the Vanni region today, for the 2nd time since November 19, when SLA headquarters at Palaly, in the Jaffna peninsula, warned the public to keep away from areas where the LTTE camps are located.

According to the Voice of Tigers (VoT) a SLAF Kfir jet plane launched attacks on the residential area at Koddaikattiyakulam, near a the Sivan temple in the Kilinochchi district. The attack took place at 5 p.m. today and 6 civilians were injured.

R.Kulasunthari (28), S.Vellayamma (46), T.Velammah (57), R.Thevi (37) and R.Sulochana (04) were the injured and have been admitted to hospital. All of them are from the Koddaikattiyakulam Sivan temple area and have been admitted to Akkaraayankulam hospital.

The radio also said that troops stationed at Elephant Pass army camp fired artillery shells towards the Pooneryn area in the mainland at 10.40 am today. The radio said that the shells were pounding the area and details of the damage caused were not immediately available.

One Kfir jet plane circled Jaffna town at 10 am today, making a loud noise, and launched an attack on the Pooneryn area, said sources in Jaffna. The vibrations from about 5 bombs dropped in the area were felt in the Jaffna peninsula, the sources added.

In a clash between the LTTE and the SLA in the Olumadu area, Vanni region, on November 21st, a member of the LTTE was killed. Mullaimaaran (Sivapaathasuntharam Thushyanthan) of Jaffna was the LTTE member killed in the clash, the VoT said.
