Armed robberies by Karuna cadres escalate in Ea’raavoor

A Muslim youth lodged a complaint at Ea'raavoor police station that his motor bicycle was robbed in Savukkadi area by a Karuna group member, Ea'raavoor police said. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Kommaathu'rai, also within Ea'raavoor police division, some members of Karuna group robbed school furniture worth 4 lakhs of Rupees from Vinayagar Vidyalayam.
The victim M.Naasar , a resident of A.K.M.Road, Kaadduppa'l'liyadi within Ea'raavoor police division , Batticaloa district in his complaint stated that he had gone to do electrical wiring in houses constructed in Savukkadi for Tsunami victims. A group of men belonging to Karuna group waiting near a temple in Tha’lavaay area robbed his motor bicycle, the victim said. He further stated that the alleged robbers are paramilitary members employed in Savukkady office of Karuna group.
