Rajapaksa to deliver budget speech on November 7

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa is to table 2008-Budget in
parliament on November 07. This would be his third budget since he
assumed presidency in 2005. The Appropriation Bill 2008 was tabled in
parliament in the month of October. The parliament will begin the
debate on the 2008 budget soon after President leaves after presenting
it.
The Sri Lankan parliament is also to debate the extension motion on the State of
Emergency for another month on November 6 The SL parliament is to resume its sitting Monday amid claims and counter
claims by ruling party United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and main
opposition United National Party (UNP) that cross over from both
parties on the day when the budget is put to final vote during the
second week of December, sources said.
