Thamilchelvan funeral Monday[TamilNet, Sunday, 04 November 2007, 23:07 GMT]The state funeral of S. P. Thamilchelvan, the head of the Liberation Tigers’ Political Wing and the movement’s Chief Negotiator, who was killed Friday in a targeted airstrike by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) will be held in Kilinochchi Monday, LTTE officials in Vanni told TamilNet. Tens of thousands of people paid their respects Saturday and Sunday as Mr Thamilchelvan’s body was taken in procession to the twelve sectors (Koaddams) of the LTTE-administered Vanni. In a notice emailed Sunday, LTTE published an email address for condolence messages to be sent. Thamilchelvan was posthumously promoted to the rank of Brigadier by the LTTE. The LTTE Political Division had announced a three-day mourning following the demise of their political head. A notice emailed by the LTTE media coordinating unit Sunday said those wishing send messages of condolences could email [email protected] either in English or Tamil. “If you do not wish your message to be published please indicate this in your email,” the notice said. Details of the funeral ceremony would be made available after arrangements had been finalized, officials said. Meanwhile remembrance ceremonies are being held or organized by community organizations in the countries hosting the extensive Tamil Diapora. Chronology: 07.11.07 British Tamils mourn Thamilchelvan
