2 family men abducted, civilian reported missing, in Jaffna

Armed men abducted a family man from his residence in Kolumpuththu'rai 28 October around 7:30 p.m and took him away in a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Buffel Armoured Personnel Carrier (BAPC) according to complaints registered with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna Monday. A father of three children was abducted from his house Sunday morning at Eazhaalai east and a family man is reported missing from Kokkuvil West, according to complaints made by relatives to HRC Jaffna.
The family man abducted in the SLA vehicle is Thanabalasingam Janathkumar, 30, a father of a child. A Buffel APC was seen to be parked outside Janathkumar who was taken away in it by the armed abductors, relatives of Janathkumar told the HRC. The family man reported missing since Saturday is Rasthurai Thileep, 30, a resident of Ka'liyamman Koayiladi in Kokkuvil west in Jaffna. Thileep, who had gone to Jaffna Perumaa'l Koayiladi on a personal errand, had not returned home since Saturday. Unknown armed men abducted Mahalingam Mathusoothanan, 32, while he was relaxing in front of his house at Eazzhaalai east Sunday evening. Meanwhile, nothing is known about the newspaper staffer Cheryn Chithiratharan of Yaazh Thinakkural daily who was reported missing after taking papers for distribution in Eazhaalai area where an SLA camp is located.
