Thousands pay homage to Major Selvam in Vanni

Thousands of Ki’linochchi residents, LTTE officials, and LTTE cadres gathered at Ki'linochchi Cultural Hall Saturday morning 10:00a.m.to pay last respects and homage to Major Selvam who succumbed to his wounds Friday after being critically injured along with five political cadres and Brigadier S. P. Tamilchelvan, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Political Head, in the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) aerial bombing on Ki’linochchi on the 2nd of this month.
LTTE Deputy Political Head S. Thangan lit the Common Flame, and Major Selvam's father lit the Flame of Sacrifice and garlanded his remains.
Major Selvam's brothers, following after their father, garlanded their brother's remains.
Thamilini, LTTE Women's Wing Political Head, and Mires of LTTE political wing, spoke paying tribute to Major Selvam.
LTTE Commander of Poonakari, Ee'lapiriyan, led others in laying flowers.
K. V. Balakumaran, the senior and prominent member of LTTE, spoke to those assembled in the Cultural Hall.
Tamileelam Heroes' Resting Homes Administrator, Pon Thiyagam, LTTE Medical Department Head, Reka, LTTE cadres and many others paid their last respect at the event.
Major Selvam's remains were laid to rest with full military honours at Kanakapuram Heroes' Resting Home in Ki'linochchi.
The Tigers have conferred Major rank to the political division member Sivalingam Aathavan alias Selvam.
Major Selvam is from Velikka'ndal, Ka'ndaava'lai.
