32 Tamil civilians arrested in Uddappu, Moneragala

Twenty Tamil residents of Uddapu village in Puththa'lam district in the
north western province and 12 Tamil civilians in Moneragala town in
the north central province were taken into custody in two separate
combined cordon and search operations conducted by the Sri Lanka Army
and Police since Monday evening. Uddapu is a traditional Tamil
village. Moneragala is a Sinhala village.
The Terrorist Intelligence Division at Puththa'lam police station was interrogating the 20 Tamil civilians arrested in Udappu. Meanwhile, 12 Tamil civilians were detained at Moneragala
police station for interrogations. Police said they had been arrested as they failed to prove their
identity and provide valid reasons for their stay in the location.
