3 students, family man seek protection with Jaffna HRC

Three students and a family man from different places in Jaffna peninsula Friday sought protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) Jaffna due to death threats by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and SLA-backed paramilitary men. Meanwhile, a family man from Valveddiththu’rai in Vadmaraadchi is reported missing since Wednesday, according to complaint by his family members to Jaffna HRC Friday.
Two of the students aged 15 and 18 who sought protection are brothers, residents of Aadiyapaatham Veethi, Nallur, Jaffna. The other student, 19, is from Changkaanai in Vadamaraadchi where a youth was shot dead Wednesday by gunmen on a motorcycle. The family man sought protection with the HRC is from Kara’navaay, Karaveddi in Vadamaraadchi. Meanwhile, Vellupilai Sivayogarasa, 45, a father of 2 children and a resident of Paalaavaththai, Polikandi, Valveddiththu’rai in Vadamaraadchi is reported missing since Wednesday with HRC Jaffna by his family members Friday. Sivayogarasa is missing since Wednesday morning after leaving home in the morning to visit a neighbour.
