The Ministry of Defence has made arrangements to take local and foreign journalists to the newly captured village town of Oddusuddan tomorrow, 7 December. Invitations for the guided tours have been sent to the prominent news agencies, radio journalists, printed media and TV stations, said sources.
The journalists will be flown to Vavuniya from Ratmalana, Colombo and they will be taken to Oddusuddan by road according to sources. Oddusuddan was captured by the security forces in a fresh operation code named 'Rivi Bala' (Sun Power), which was launched on Wednesday December 2, according to the Defence Ministry. Analysts said that the SLA's new move in an unexpected direction in the Vanni battlefront was for the benefit of the electorate and the opposition parties. The government's war strategy has been under some criticism lately.
