Trincomalee security tightened

The security in the Trincomalee town and its suburbs has been tightened following bomb explosions in Colombo. All vehicles including bicycles and other mode of transport are being thoroughly checked by the security personnel at all key junctions in the town. Additional troops have been deployed at strategic points in the east port town, residents said.

Pedestrians are also being stopped, checked and interrogated.

Sri Lanka security forces are also conducting random cordon and search operations in the town.

State and private sector buses leaving Trincomalee town to outstations have been reduced to a minimum due to security reasons, residents said.
