Abducted man shot dead in Akkaraippattu

Unidentified armed men shot and killed a mason Tuesday around 8:30 p.m and dumped his body near Chinnakku’lam Kaa’li Koayil in Akkaraippattu in Ampaa’rai district, Akkaraippattu police said. The killers had abducted the mason Sunday and had interrogated him before killing him.

The victim was identified as Ilayathamby Thavarasa, 51, a building mason and a father of five children from Thayakea’ni Children School Veethi in Chinnakku’lam, Akka’raipattu.

Inquest into the death of Thavarasa was held in Akkaraippattu hospital Wednesday.

Akkaraippattu police are continuing investigation into the killing.
