Man injured in bomb blast dies in Jaffna Hospital

An employee of Nalloor Regional Secretariat injured in the bomb explosion 31 January at Aadiyapaatham Road in Thirunelveali succumbed to his injuries Thursday after two weeks of treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
The victim was identified as Rasalingam Mathimaran, 30, a resident of Koa'ndaavil in Jaffna. Mathimaran is the fourth employee of Nalloor Regional Secretariat killed in the bomb blast. Two were killed on the spot and the third on the second day after being seriously injured. The bomb explosion on 31 January around 10:30 a.m on Aadiyapaatham Road in Thirunelveali, Jaffna, killed four civilians and injured at least fifteen. The injured were rushed to Jaffna Teaching hospital. There were no SLA troopers or vehicles at the spot when a Claymore mine attached to a bicycle exploded, civilians in the area said.
