Genocidal policies exposed, Colombo stands weakened - Nadesan

[TamilNet, Saturday, 08 March 2008, 22:49 GMT]
"Signs of desperation are evident in Sri Lanka’s defense hierarchy as the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) divisions stay bogged down within a few square kilometers in Mannaar, unable to advance for nearly a year. While SLA commanders are on foreign jaunts to build hurried military alliances, Colombo has also suffered politically with its racist policies in governance exposed internationally, and has earned opprobrium from international community for the escalating human rights violations," said B. Nadesan, head of political section of the Liberation Tigers addressing the event held in Ki'linochchi to pay last respects to the slain parliamentarian, K. Sivanesan, Saturday.

SLA is facing similar predicament in Vavuniyaa, Ma'nalaa'ru, and the Northern Front theaters of battle, Mr. Nadesan added.

Remembering Sivanesan's longstanding contribution to eradicating poverty in the war stricken sections of the Tamil people through co-operative efforts, Nadesan said Sivanesan MP lived with people.

"When people displaced, he also displaced; when civilians were getting bombed by the Sri Lankan military, he was there to help them. Sivanesan MP believed in empowering people through the cooperative structures at the grassroots. He believed wholeheartedly in the liberation of the Tamil homeland. Sivanesan MP never trusted that the parliamentary politics in the South would lead to the liberation of the Tamils, but worked to expose the inability of the system itself. When Tamils were deprived of political voice, he visited foreign countries to convey the plight of his people and served as the people's voice," Nadesan said.
