SLA soldier remanded for robbery in Jaffna

A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier from an SLA camp in Kaithadi in Thenmaraadchi, arrested by Chaavakachcheari police who found stolen jewellery and cash in his possession in the camp, was produced before Chaavakachcheari Magistrate Courts, sources in Chaavakachcheari said. The police arrested the SLA troop on information provided by the family from Kaithadi who were robbed of their jewellery and cash worth millions of rupees.
An armed man robbed a house in the residential area near Kaithadi junction in Thenmaraadchi and the house owners had lodged a complaint with the Chaavakachcheari police giving information on the suspect. Chaavakachcheari police on searching the camp of the suspected SLA trooper discovered the stolen jewellery and cash hidden there. The magistrate directed the police to place the accused soldier in Jaffna remand prison.
