Hand bomb recovered from Rajarata campus

A hand bomb was found abandoned in the premises of the Rajarata University Campus located in Anuradhapura town in the north central province Saturday evening. The Mihintale police is conducting inquiries to find out how it was brought into the university campus compound through security checkpoint, reports from Anuradhapura said.

The hand bomb was found lying near the canteen of the varsity by a student. On receipt of this information police rushed to the site and recovered the hand bomb.

A bomb disposal squad of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) deactivated the device, sources said.
