STF shoots dead 2 SLA soldiers, civilian in Ampaa'rai

Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) commandos lying in ambush in a shrub jungle shot and killed 2 Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers and a civilian in Oo’ra’ni area in Poththuvil, Ampaa’rai district, Tuesday around 2:00 p.m. The SLA troops, gathering civilians, had gone to collect firewood when the STF commandos opened fire on them. An SLA soldier and a civilian injured in the shooting were admitted to Ampaa’rai hospital.
SLA soldiers stationed in Koamaa’ri area took the civilians to collect firewood to Roattal area, 3 km from Ampaa’rai Main Road. The STF commandos who opened fire on the firewood collecting party belong to Changkamaan Ka’ndi STF camp. The bodies of the victims are kept at Ampaa’rai hospital. On 6 April, STF commandos lying in ambush had killed a Muslim civilian and seriously injured another who had gone to collect firewood in Poththuvil area. The injured Muslim civilian was admitted to Kalmunai Ashrop Hospital while the third member of the group had escaped being killed.
